Cynthia has been serious about art an awfully long time.
She attended the NYS Summer School of the Arts and received her BFA from SUNY Purchase.
She worked for many years as a Visual Display Artist and Visual Manager for Department and Specialty Stores.
A lifelong sewer and painter, she firmly believes that art is messy but that out of chaos comes order... most of the time!
Her list of art heros is very long indeed but does without question include the following... Pablo Picasso, Egon Schiele, Maxfield Parrish, Mark Ryden, Charlie Harper (the artist!), Bosch, Salvadore Dali, Edward Gorey, and Erte! She feels that sometimes it is as much the artist as it is their imagery that inspires her.
She will work in anything that suits her fancy! Currently, the majority of her work is in fabric but she has tried her hand at everything from lithography and letterpress to furniture making and sculpture.
In her daily life she is motivated by nature, reading far too many books, watching her favorite movies, listening to music, COFFEE, visits to museums, and being trapped in her studio and dreaming of the world that lies beyond it.
